My First Apartment List
By elaraopheliaIn May I will be graduating from college and in the not to distant future I will be out on my own and I will have my first apartment. I am starting to collect up things for when that time comes. Here are some things that I could use for my first apartment.
First is table lamp for my end table. I found this nice chrome satin finished table lamp with a white shade. It even has a dimer so you can control the light amount and it is sensitive to the time of day so it turns on at night and turns it off at dawn automatically. A nice feature so that I never have to come into a cold dark apartment at night.

$39.99
Then in the living room there needs to be a matching or very similar floor lamp. This lamp is very similar to the table lamp. This is a classic white fabric shade, antique brass floor lamp. It is similar in color and style to the table lamp and it has a similar shade, even though the two lamps aren't an exact match.

$32.99
These two lamps would match my futon perfectly. I have an Ikea Beddinge futon with a stainless steel frame and a white quilted cover.
The next item is a rug. I would use the rug to tie the living room together. For this I wanted something with a little color, since the futon and the lamps do not have much color. I picked a rug that is in the style of the 50s with interesting geometric shapes in different colors with a cream background. It has a punch of color, but is still subtle enough not to stand out in the room. My forrest green accent pillows for the futon would also match this rug. I would use colors from this rug to tie in with the room.

$44.99
Then I have a loveseat, which was given to me by a family member, it is a little warn and the style would not exactly match the rug and the futon, so I found a slipcover for it that would tie in the green from the accent pillows on the futon.

$29.98
Then to finish off the room, I would want to do a wall arrangement of my photos in black and white to go along with the contemporary feel of the room. I have found a set of black frames, 10 to a box for $19. They are very simplistic and would make my prints standout.

$19.99
To add more art I would then choose this large black collage frame, to display more photos.

All of these items would help me create a nice living room in my first apartment. The total of these items is:
$194.94
