Art&Crafts color palette
By dmittlemanI am about to buy an American Four Square home decorated in kind of a mission/craftsman arts&crafts style. But my wife and I are not happy with the interior color scheme. I know that Sherwin-Williams offers an arts & crafts palette. Other than that, can any of you recommend resources to help me select a color palette for this house?

I am a color consultant and yes, while I do admit to be an advocate for low and no VOC's (volatile organic compounds) which emit icky toxins into the environment, I also love fabulous color. My favorite lines right now are Benjamin Moore's Aura Paints (scrumptious and divine), Divine Paints and Yolo Colorhouse. I have used many different paint companies in my work experience and these are my preference. As far as what color choices, it's not always about being guided by the style of the house. It's more about who you and your partner are, what really moves you in terms of color and how does it relate to the rest of the color palette in your home, for example, the color of the floor, kitchen cabinets, fireplace surround and flooring. Take it all into consideration and let me know if you have any questions. I answer design questions all the time on an eco-style blog I write called, Planet Pink n' Green - http://www.planetpinkngreen.com. Click on 'Ask Cheryl' to submit a question or contact me here. Um, woah... that house is DOPE. Forgive me for saying so, but that's a lot of house for the money. I'm not familiar with the market in Chicago, but I've never seen a house that large, or that well maintained in Minneapolis for that price. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Anway, congrats.
Colour Lovers is a great resource for color inspiration (although it's targetted more are designers than home-decorators). That said, a quick search turned up some nice ideas:
