DIY Modern Calendar

Affordable is good, but lets face it, you can't beat free. So when it comes to calendars for next year it doesn't get much better than the very free Blueant Studio Calendar. There are strings attached though, you have to make it yourself. They have included all the beautiful pictures with dates below, you just have to print them all out and bind them if you wish. They look to have been made with Apples iPhoto program and have Applelicious lay » READ MORE
Which modern Christmas tree
By creede
Every year my wife and I have bought a real Christmas tree, but this year we are thinking about getting a fake one. It just seems like such a waste to spend all those years growing a tree, cut it, and then after a few weeks throw it away. What I would really like is a white alpine Christmas tree, but apparently that is easier said than done. The only one I could find in my google quest was this one from ebay. I don't really care if it is prel » READ MORE

Yea! It's been top secret until now, but today we are breaking the great news to all our families that we are pregnant. Thirteen weeks four days pregnant to be exact. As you can imagine we are both elated, and slowly counting the days until the little fellows grand entrance into this world. That means that there is sure to be some great baby content coming on GRM. It also means that the pressure is on to get our house finished. I think we » READ MORE

modern stool

Here is a decent looking stool from one of our favorite local stores, Target. The price is right at $55, but who knows about the quality. My wife and I bought some bookcases from Target about a year ago, and while they looked nice at a glance, they were really pretty cheap. Anyone seen this one in person?
Available from Target for $55
Construction loan tips?
By creede
Can I just tell you what a pain it is to try and get a new construction loan. It absolutely amazes me how much time, effort and money you have to put into it before you are even ready to apply. We are currently racing the weather clock to try and see if we can get this project done before snow is on the ground. I have bids from the roofer, and millwork and thats about it. I finally got a hold of the drywall guys today, so I should have a bid f » READ MORE
Mid-Century Modern Colorado
By creede
While I am sure there are lots of great mid-century homes for sale in Colorado, this one is close to my heart. That's because it belongs to my Grandparents. I spent many enjoyable summers in this home learning to appreciate the classic contemporary design. The home was designed by an architect friend of there's and is a classic. They are actually trying to sell it now, as it is too big for their needs. The thing that kills me is they have » READ MORE
Affordable Modern Platform Bed
By creede
Half inspiration and half "How To" this post will show you how I made an affordable modern platform bed for under $300.
Design. This is where you should spend a good deal of time. There are a lot of things that go into the design process, including, but not limited to: the space your bed goes into, your budget, your handyman skills, green products or not. You get the point. This particular project shown above was for a good friend. The budget » READ MORE
House plans and building permit
By creede
Let me just say, yesterday was a good day. The stars aligned over our little 700 square foot house, and the results were great. Not only did we finally get our drawings completed and stamped by the architect and engineer, we were also able to get out building permit! It was the culmination of an entire summers work coming together in one $1,200 dollar bang. That is the cost of a building permit on a addition valued at $48,000. Note to self, » READ MORE
