External siding for a new house?

I'm looking for building materials for a new house I'm currently designing. Specifically, external siding. I hate the commonplace corrugated metal, but I hate the standard lap siding look more. Does anyone have any leads on modern-looking external siding materials? My requirements are:not ridiculously expensive, cheap will win weather resistant (we have a west-facing exposure that gets hammered in windy storms)colorful (the more options the better)durable, something that doesn't need a ton of attention/maintenanceI know, I'm looking for the impossible. Hey cool. After looking at your profile I saw that you were looking for Faux wood (siding) and I thought you may want to investigate faux stone instead. Sorry to offend. BTW my best friend owns a siding business. If you have more details about what you are looking for I may be able to help.
