Curbly Christmas Giveaway!

From December 18, 2006 To December 25, 2006

We're feeling the holiday spirit here at Curbly headquarters (or maybe it's just the eggnog). We thought about sending out personalized cards to all our members, but then we thought, 'Hey, let's buy them stuff instead!'

So, you tell us what you want, and we'll buy everything on your list!

We'll pick the best list, and ONE winner will receive a $200 credit to Amazon.com.

Here are the rules:

  • Make a list of items available on Amazon.com with links to those items (items must be in stock at Amazon)
  • Include a picture of every item on your list.
  • Include the total price of your list in your post (make sure the list costs less than $200).
  • Describe what you like about your list and what you'd do with all your cool new stuff!
  • Contest open to participants wherever Amazon.com is available (you'll be responsible for shipping costs and taxes). Please read Amazon's shipping restrictions page to learn more.
Your list should capture the spirit of Curbly. So, instead of asking Santa for iPods and romance novels, how about some great DIY tools and designer housewares. Here's some inspiration:

----------------------------------------------------------

Here's an example entry (so you know what we're looking for):

My Curbly Gift List - Total Cost: $196.43
Here's my be-all, end-all list of things I want this year.
1.
Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 12-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid  - $24.99

Calphalon makes my mouth water, with it's sexy anodized aluminum (just say that a few times, you'll see) and its superior heat-distribution. Mmm...

2. iRobot Roomba 4299 Discovery Floorvac Robotic Vacuum - $110.00
Let's face it, robots should be doing more of our housework. It's almost 2007, people. These robots have been getting off easy for far too long.

3. Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker, Black and Stainless Steel - $61.44
Coffee is good for you. Science has proven this. And Starbucks is bad for your wallet. My wallet has proven this.

 ---------------------------------------------------------------

Remember, this contest ends Christmas day, so you've got exactly one week! What are you waiting for? Get started!

A craft room to call my very own!

By alixi Dsc00599_large

So, I haven't been very active in Curbly since joining. Mostly because my husband and I got married recently, and also because we have been fixing up our house. We're both crafty in our own ways, I sew and bead, he makes furniture in his spare time, when we're not doing our own construction. Santa came early this year, bringing us drywall sheets, mud, 2x4's and paint; with which we created a sewing/craft room for myself, and a small workbench area for the husband - but santa didn't really think about storage.  Before (when I was purchasing the house):    After:    As any... »MORE

What will be under RoadVermins Tree?

By roadvermin Phaidon_large

It was so so hard to decide what to choose from the myriad of DIY delights available at Amazon. This was made even harder by the fact that alot of the really cool stuff doesnt ship overseas which concerns us as we live in France. So I had to say bye bye to the beautiful Dremel multi tool, farewell to the twelve month subscription to Make magazine and au revoir to the nifty compression clamps I spotted. So after much surfing and dissapointment I decicded on four items which I felt fill every step in the creative DIY process. DEWALT DW703 Heavy Duty 10" Compound Miter saw

By vincechan Saw

Dear Curbly, This year for Christmas, I want a DEWALT DW703 Heavy Duty 10" Compound Miter saw. It’s listed at $190.64 and I’ve included a couple of pictures of the saw in action, thoughtfully provided by amazon.com. I love my list because it’s very short and very easy. But, most of all, with this item, I’ll finally be able to complete the one project in our house that I have longed to do: Master Bathroom Construction. We have a somewhat awkward 3rd bedroom. It is by far the largest, but, because of the dimensions (10’ x 24’), it has been... »MORE

Our pink bathroom needs some style!

Hey Curbly, This new faucet and showerhead would go a long way towards revamping our pepto-bismol pink bathroom: Zoe Mermaid Chrome Shower Head http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002ZJBDU/ref=wl_it_dp/102-6445534-2037750?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3U79WN8YH8FLN&colid=2DZWP6D81EWGY Lavatory Faucet - EZ-FLO 2 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00068IF3A/ref=wl_it_dp/102-6445534-2037750?ie=UTF8&coliid=I237GATSV6LBRN&colid=2DZWP6D81EWGY With these in place we would be inspired to rip down the red striped wallpaper and paint. A little about my list.  I love great films and good books.  There's nothing more spectacular than a truly great film or reading an enthralling tale (save for an amazing bit of furniture design).1. The Films of Ray and Charles Eames- I've had the pleasure of seeing these on many different occasions.  What I love most about them is that they manage to capture the youthful playfulness of Ray and Charles Eames.  But also, the films show the optimistic spirit of their designs and manages to ask questions still quite relevant.  These films stimulate thought and discussion, they'd be great... »MORE

True DIY

My list is semi-inspired by the do-it yourself mantra. I love building things, completing projects on my own and having that true sense of accomplishment.
