What do I do with an ugly util closet?

By clutch

I have an 81 x 81 utility closet opening that I need to do something with. I had some ugly folding doors but because of a broken washing machine I had to cut out part of the wall. Lucky me. And also because of a backed up sewer I had to rip up new carpeting. Ewwwww

What can I do with this now? I don't want more of the folding doors. But I need to keep it ventilated because the furnace and water heater is back there also. This is a hallway so there's really no style here. the other side of this hallway has a birch IKEA cabinet. One thing I want to do is get that stone like vinyl tile and lay that down. But I'm not sure how to butt that up to carpeted stairs and a room. Anybody else have any ideas?

Thats something I think, I could do. I never thought about sliding doors. thanks a lot. I'll be keeping HomeDepot profitable this month.

Maybe something like this would be a fun solution:

These doors would be on two tracks and would slide. The holes would not only add cosmetic appeal, but would also serve as a ventilating system for your heat and washing machine.

If you are a savvy DIY'er, you could probably create this on your own. Although the whole track system could be tricky.

Either way, good luck and hope you find the perfect solution!

Ick, feels very cramped. Maybe a curtain could cover up that closet and look a little more stylish?
