Lighting Our Cave of a Hallway

By cillastar

Wireless LED sconces

Our hallway is a hazard. Hazard as in getting up in the middle of the night and bumping one's toe on the way to the bathroom. Unfortunately, there are no outlets or hardwired lights to illuminate the space. I thought about running rope lighting around the ceiling. So glad I decided against it. Too much of a college dorm look for me. Candles don't cut it and running an extension cord wasn't an attractive option. I happened upon these LED lights on Target. I know LED lighting still has a way to go but they are economical and fit our need perfectly. They are not very bright, just bright enough to get where we're going in the middle of the night. I took it a step further and put in rechargeable batteries to keep the overall cost low. Still looking for the perfect (and affordable) solution, but for now, these fit the bill.

They operate on 3 AA batteries. Beware, I've heard they eat up a lot of batteries which is why I went with rechargeables. I wouldn't recommend them for heavy use.

Hi,

I live in a Victorian house and there are so few outlets that it makes me want to cry sometimes.  So, the LED lights from Target operate only on batteries, like the AA batteries?  Anyone know of any solar lights that store energy during the day and run at night?
