sparkie - I would need a little more information about your friend. you can always try calling information - as bellsouth has tried very hard to keep telephone listings current and accurate. there was a very large article in the times-picayune today on "voluntourism" - folks like you who want to come down to new orleans post-k and see the sights, have some fun, and also help rebuild. considering we were not mentioned by our president in the state of the union address - it is really important that we have people who want to be involved in the rebuilding efforts. believe me - there is an enormous amount of work to be done. you can find the article on nola.com. craigslist - new orleans also has listing for volunteer efforts. habitat for humanity is also a good place. the recovery school district is accepting volunteers to help paint schools, etc. the library association still needs help sorting all of the books and trying to restock the flooded libraries throughout orleans parish. think of a task you'd like to do - and you will most likely have the opportunity to do it. i know of some guesthouses, but nothing is going to be available during mardi gras... it's only a few weeks away. best of luck finding your friend!

Your house is beautiful!  I love all the plants.  I'm not much of a gardener - I tend to kill plants more easily than help them, but I am determined to utilize the coming spring to learn the art of gardening.  I hope you'll be sharing some ideas!
