Messy Table Cloth Embroidery

By DIY Maven

My grandmother embroidered everything. She wouldn't have even considered using a dish towel unless she had embellished it with flowers or fruit or something. And although I doubt she would have been a fan of AZEdesign’s messy table cloth, I am. So here it is, spilled wine and everything. From dezeen.

The $10 Sharpie Room Makeover.

By Chrisjob

Twenty years ago, Charlie Kratzer decided he wanted alot of impressionist-style art in his home...so, he figured he was gonna have to make it himself.

Ten dollars later (which is what, eight sharpies?)...he's ended up with this:

The Best Neutral Paint Color....?

By DIY Maven

Several years ago I had the displeasure of babysitting model homes. You know the drill. ‘Welcome to (insert name of development here). This is the (insert name of the home plan here).’ After six hour days of the same spiel over and over and over, I started to lose it. I had to find ways to entertain myself, so I began keeping a running total in my head as to how many people had complementary remarks about the furniture, the cabinetry, the floorin » READ MORE

Cardboard Furniture

By Sijbrich I know a couple of you have already shown pictures of cardboard furniture, but the other day when I walked by this store, I couldn't help but go inside and take a few pictures of my own.  I especially like the white and green bookshelf.  I think a whole room of cardboard brown furniture would be a little too much for me, but I think it's interesting to see the different styles that can be achieved with something that has traditionally been reserv » READ MORE

Plywood Furniture You can Make

Plywood Coffee Table by Andy Lee Design

We recently released a site for Andy Lee Design.  He makes plywood furniture.  The simplicity of this design means that it can be made by any industrious person with a jigsaw or circular saw. Virtually any type of plywood could be used and of course you could paint it as well.  If you're interested in his design, check out his site where you will find a bookshelf in addition to the coffee table pictured above.

Beaded Curtains...on a bathroom sink?

By alexrussell

I can't tell if the Moxie wall-mounted lavatory from Kohler is cool or just weird. Hanging beaded curtains along the edges of a wall-mouned lav is definitely a new idea. A sink is a wonderful thing, but there's always functionality right at the throat of aesthetics. People want dirty water to go away but almost nobody wants to see a sink's p-trap underneath, even if it's chrome and flawlessly installed. Hence, the beaded curtain.

My New Craft Room: Completed

By DIY Maven

It started as a repository for stuff, mostly of the craft variety. The walls were colorless and storage was slim.

After a month or so of consideration and work, my new craft room is orderly, calm and colorful.

All in all, the entire room cost–in new materials–107 bucks. This included the fabric, paint, wood, fabric drawers for the desk, an Ikea Espressivo desk lamp and decorative doo-dads. What it didn’t include was the chair, rug, desktop
