I like to keep things very simple and cozy at the same time. I love clean, geometric lines and patterns and prefer cool colors usually. My house has a very horizontal feel - it made me think of Frank Lloyd Wright when I first saw it. The exterior is all brick and inside there is a lot of the same brick- the fireplace makes up one wall of the great room and on the other side of the fireplace, the brick is exposed in the kitchen and encloses the oven and a storage area below the oven. The kitchen also has a copper exhaust fan above the stove and the color works beautifully with the brick. The color reminds me of a desert sunset, sort of a peachy pink. The last thing I bought as a decoration is a welcome sign that was laser cut out of copper or brass and has glass beads and spirals and other doodads. I hang it in front of the window next to the front door so it is backlit.

Hey catdancer,
Responding to your comments:
My pic is from some my DD's teacher sent me a couple of years back - I don't know where she found them, but I can definitely share.
I draft alot of my Kiddo's clothes, but also use a combination of Kwiksew and Jalie Patterns (you can't get Jalie local - go to www.jalie.com). There also a couple of other great places to find patterns - I have a magazine called Ottobre that has multi sized patterns for all sizes of kids that you trace (www.ottobredesign.com), and there are these european patterns called Onion that are great too (www.shoponion.com). Out here in the sticks, she is definitely the best dressed.
