I live in a custom Cape Cod,constructed of mixed brick, designed and built in the late 50's by the couple we bought it from (He was a construction foreman, she a housewife with rather precious taste) So we have 1950's green/ pink and pink/ blue tile in both bathrooms. We have great hardwood floors throughout, which we discovered once we stripped the baby blue wall to wall carpet. I'm not even going to mention the raw silk noile draperies,also pink (gone but not forgotten!)

We have done a few things to update the house, but I'm also very much wanting to keep the 50's feel of the house, if not necessarily the baby pastels color scheme. (I painted the pink and green bathroom a hot orchid color which actually works! :) So since we're on a budget, I think this website is amazing. Have gotten a lot of good ideas in just a few weeks. Muchas Gracias to all and will try to contribute as well!
