Utah Ikea in two weeks

By bohring

As I type, I am watching an Ikea commercial. "Come to the Ikea opening in Draper May 23,"  it says. And each time I travel to Salt Lake, I see the glorious blue building to the West of I-15.

Oh, how I have longed to hear those words. I was told for years that it would never be possible. There was no nearby seaport. It would come to Denver long before here. Zoning issues. Fear of crickets.

Lies. All lies.

Now my vacations will no longer have to be centered around a visit to the nearest locations. I won't be limited to what can be stuffed into suitcases or the unfortunately limited online selection. No more ebay. No more bribing family members to bring things to me. And I can finally get to serious work decorating this apartment.

I feel so at peace...

Lilybee- that IS nasty! And though my husband got a riot baton in Russia a few years ago, I'm probably going to play it safe and wait a day or two.

And my feet thank you for the shoe advice.

Yes, good shoes and DON'T go on the weekend. Ours in Mpls is like a zoo on the weekends. Horrible.

Ahh... I remember when the Minneapolis IKEA opened... my only advice: bring good shoes! Shoes concrete floors are hard on your feet!

Yay! But do pack your riot baton if you intend to be at the opening ceremonies. Things can get nasty. This nasty.
