Amy Rice Answers 5 Questions

By benmoore

When I saw Amy Rice's interview on MoCo Loco, and that she was from Minneapolis, I knew I had to invite her to Curbly!  She was kind enough to accept.

And with all the discussion on Curbly about how to get great art into your home, it only seemed appropriate to ask an expert.

Here are a few random questions for our fellow Curblier, Amy Rice:

What place in Minneapolis that inspires you most?

The Spectrum ArtWorks Studio located in the Phillips neighborhood; it’s the meeting place of the non-profit arts program I manage for adults living with severe and resistant mental illness. There is so much amazing creative energy there and I come home from my job highly inspired eager to paint.

So when you're painting, is it quiet? Is the radio playing or something? if so, what's playing?

I have to have music. Lately I’ve been enjoying The Coup, The Raconteurs, some Odetta, a band from Seattle called Palodine, and 16 Horsepower because it goes well with the fall weather.

For your average Curbly member, the art budget isn't endless.  How 'bout filling in the blanks for us: no one should spend less than _____ or more than _____ on a piece of art.

No one should spend less than 50 dollars or more than 3,000 dollars on a piece of art.

Three artists I admire are:

Seonna Hong, Chris Stain, Amy Sol

Where can people on Curbly buy my art (or at least see it in person)?

You can always see more of my work and keep updated on where I’m exhibiting at my website: www.amyrice.com. I have a lot happening coming up; here’s exhibits I’m excited about being included in:

Gallery Revisited in Los Angeles opening December 2    www.galleryrevisited.com

Art Star Gallery in Philadelphia opening November 25         www.artstarphilly.com

Bluestocking Books in New York City opening December 1      www.bluestockings.com

Outsiders and Others Gallery in Minneapolis (almost always) www.outsidersandothers.org

Thanks for taking the time Amy!!  If you have any nice words for Amy, you comment directly to her on her profile
