No Coast Craft-O-Rama this weekend!

By benmoore

For all the Minnesota folks out there, this weekend is the No Coast Craft-O-Rama.  I had a chance to ask Kristen, fellow Curblier, about it:

What makes No Coast Craft-o-Rama different than your average craft fair?
No Coast Craft-o-Rama is not just a sale, but an event.  We feature local crafters and artists that have a unique twist on traditional crafts.   You’ll be able to find the kinds of gifts here that are not in your average store - handmade underwear, duct tape purses, tattoo-themed baby blankets, jewelry made from one inch buttons, and coasters featuring gangster mugshots… And, as if over 75 craft booths wasn’t enough, we’ll have bands playing throughout the day, MN Rollergirls Kissing Booth, Shiatsu Chair Massage, Gift Wrapping, and a special booth by the Science Museum exploring craft & technology.

What kind of people would get the most out of coming to No Coast Craft-o-Rama?
Every kind of person can get something out of No Coast Craft-o-Rama.  The sale is family friendly and last year we had attendees ranging from parents with newborns to grandparents.  Punks, Squares and Geeks… Plus this sale goes beyond gifts, with a wide range of vendors that will be selling unique items for the home including handpainted floorcloths, mosaics, pillows, rock posters, paintings and lamps.

Any special participants that you'd like to highlight?
I have to confess, I’m most excited to see what Cricket Syndicate has in store.  They make men’s boxer brief underwear from old T-Shirts.  Check out www.cricketsyndicate.com for a preview.  Also, Manual Method Design is not to be missed, my favorite item of hers was the giant throw pillow featuring an image of an anatomically correct 4-ventrical heart. www.manualmethod.com  Another favorite of ours is Nate’s Custom Sewing, he does amazing work with upholstery and vinyl.  Plus Rebecca Yaker will be there as Smiling RAM.  She’s the one who designed the sock monkey dress that was featured at the State Fair this year.

And where/when is it?
Midtown Global Market on Lake St. and Chicago Ave. in Minneapolis.  Free Parking, free admission, tons of food and drink.  Saturday, December 2nd from 9am – 7pm.   Check out www.nocoastcraft.com for directions, vendor profiles, and anything you need to know.
