Jewelry for your tree?

By beccajo

created on: 03/25/08created on: 03/25/08

Is this for real? You know I love trees as art and  branches for jewelry, now this?

From the Tree Jewelry website:

"When was the last time your favorite tree demanded anything from you? Attention? Conversation? Compliments?

Surprise that oak, that maple, that honey locust. Drape a gleaming stainless

steel necklace around your precious. Fitted on indestructible marine line,

finished with marine hardware. Lasts forever."

Bring the outdoors in-Easy Project!

By beccajo

created on: 03/23/08

Hey folks, hope the Easter Bunny found you this morning!

I had promised to bring the centerpiece to my family's dinner today, but I forgot to get the flowers last night. All the grocery stores were closed this AM, so I came up with another solution.

My dad cut a few branches off an apple tree my folks have growing in their yard, and I gathered scissors, a wire cutter, a pin, some different pink construction paper, and some thin wire (I think ab » READ MORE

Chickens in the City

By beccajo

I'm trying to convince one of my friends to raise chickens in the heart of St. Paul.  Apparently, you  need to get the approval of 75% of your neighbors within a 100ft radius before you can get them, and Minneapolis has similar rules.  The most recent issue of Make Magazine

featured an article on raising just hatched chicks, and their site contains some more articles from chicken-raisers, their challenges and successes.

Lucky Kids! Hazel Wood Children

By beccajo

Ok I know it's not JUST for kids, but check out this great site, Hazel Wood Children

created on: 03/18/08

They carry boat mobiles from one of my FAVE artists, Ann Wood!  And lots of organic choices for babes and parents, too.

I am drooling over this crow letterpress print.

My Own Personal Green Acres

By beccajo

I'm a bookstore junkie. So much so, that friends know to look for me at our local Barnes and Noble if I'm not answering my phone. My idea of a perfect day is to snuggle up in one of their comfy chairs with a caffiene and sugar laced beverage, and bliss out on home decor magazines and books.

But lately, I've noticed a shift. I've found myself being drawn more frequently to Country Living and Mary Engelbreit, than to British Elle Decor or Metropol » READ MORE

Shed a little light....

By beccajo

created on: 03/14/08

I have a weakness for wee little candleholders like this one from Urban Outfitters for $28.

And for only $12 I could snap up this little teal number. Also comes in bright pink (for only $6!) or glossy white. Would look great with this rug!

Paper Source has an even more intricately designed lantern, and in a more subdued palette of white, caramel, grey, and orange.

I think I'm gonna keep my eye out for like a billion punched lanterns to » READ MORE

Gorgeous Green Glass Pitcher!

By beccajo

created on: 03/13/08

Amazingly beautiful recycled glass pitcher, $60.

Nicer than serving straight from the Brita filter pitcher, if I had a spare sixty bills layin' around, I'd snap this baby up!  Also lovin' the blue glass collection from Rosanna!

Reversible Recycled Rug!

By beccajo

Check out this great rug, made from recycled drink bottles and available at Gaiam.com.  It's only $40 for a 4x6 sized rug, they also have a 5x8 version for $84, with a slightly more refined pattern.

I've been seeing a lot of this combo lately, brown and turquoise-green.  It's very calming and makes me think of ice cream, for some reason!
