I screen, you screen

By beccajo

My latest theatrical adventure will requre a folding screen, ideally one that is double-sided so it can stand in for two different locations. It's probably going to end up in my house afterwards as a bed-hider, so I want it to be a good, sturdy model.

Due to the fact that I'm unlikely to find one printed with playing cards on one side, and an Andy Warhol-inspired collage on the other, I'm probably going to have to make or renovate my own.

But in my hunting for plans, I've come across some preeeeety interesting room dividers. Let's take a look, shall we?

  Screen as magazine rack! $87.00

At what point does this screen become tippy? Or do you have to hang the same weight on either side to keep it from toppling onto your coffee table? I only own two baseball caps so I'd be screwed, right there.

Screen for those with no windows, $447.00 (free shipping)

I love the rooster in the second panel. What more needs to be said?

Another screen for the gardening-challeneged, $297.00 with shipping.

And now the trees have died. $249 from West Elm. I totally love that it's mimicing trees, yet it's made from wood veneer. HA!

OOoh I love this one! $459.00, plus shipping. It's too bad I need the screen to be solid (to hide some actors) otherwise this would be the one I'd probably buy for myself......

Gosh, I spelled my own theater company's name wrong! Thanks Binary_Pattern. It's lavietheatre.com , and I fixed it up in the post as well.

Yeah, you're right about covering the back side, but my issue then becomes about the $$. The screen is about 2/3rds of the total budget for all production elements. And I can't justify buying it only for myself....sigh......

hmm, i don't know why the holes in the last screen should disqualify it.  you said you need to somehow emblazon the thing with playing cards on one side and something andy warholesque on the other -- wouldn't you be doing that by covering it (and any holes) anyway? then you'd be able to hide people, remove gaudy design when the production is through, and have your top pick to keep.

ps. when i visited, the url you reference, http://www.laveitheatre.com/, was empty.
