Survive the Sales:Post Holiday Primer

By beccajo

It's the most wonderful day of the year-when 80% sales abound on holiday crap!

How to make the most of this boxing day and not blow out your (already stressed) budget?!?

CHOOSE A THEME

Birds, icicles, balls, stars..... pick shapes of ornament and make them your main focus. You are free to go outside of this category of course, but remember that unity creates a more pleasant and eye-catching tree than total and complete chaos. I will be looking for clear glass crystal-shapes, birds, AND balls.

CHOOSE A COLOR

Red and green are traditional of course, but imagine your tree next year with all PURPLE ornaments!

Choose your color and then the ones adjacent to it-for instance if you choose blue you can also pick up teal green and indigo ornaments, as well as purple!

CHOOSE A METAL

Yukon Cornelius (or maybe it was Sam the Snowman) had it right-Silver and Gold make a Christmas tree complete. We've also got lovely bronze options, pewter, you name it. Pick and stick with a metal.

GO EASY ON THE GLITTER

Stay away from too much glitter. Unless it's the super nice vintage german stuff (if it's made by Wendy Addison, it's a keeper). It gets EVERYWHERE if you have it on your tree or in your decorating for the holidays. You don't want to be sweeping up bits of green and red glitter in May, do you?
