BEST. DAY. EVER!
After a lovely post-birthday lunch (it was just this past Tuesday, by the way) with my good friend Andrea, we found ourselves at the door of a cute little shop called 'Quince' in St. Paul MN. Now this store is about 1/2 a mile from my house. And I had NO idea they carried any of my boy Tord's products. But guess who snapped up TWO Garland light shades? I got one silver and one chrome, which is black. BECAUSE THEY WERE ON SALE.
ooooh!!! ahhhh!!!!
Even the packaging is gorgeous. It suggests to hang the lamp above head height 'to avoid entangling hair'. OUCH! What about getting a sharp metal flower in the eye? I think that's reason enough to make sure they're hung high enough! I convinced Andrea to buy an Until Dawn curtain to hang in her dining room. Since they're tyvek, you don't have to worry about hair entanglement.
I digress. I can hardly wait to get back to my apartment and install them around the lights in my room. The square glass lamp cover isn't working for me, I hated it so much I just took it off and looked at bare bulbs for a few months. But now.......... Yippee!
Tord pt. Two
A quick trip to Targay Botique provided some more Tord-y goodness. Seems he's designed almost ALL of the special holiday packaging, and a few wrapping/ornamenty type things as well. I picked up a cut-paper garland featuring bunnies and snowflakes. Will snap a pic once I get my digicam some new batteries. My digi sucks down batteries like some kind of alkaline vampire.
Whilst at Target, I spoke with 'Doug', a smartly dressed man in a red polo and khaki dockers (I think that means he worked there) who informed me that they are required by the licensing agreement to throw out all the instore displays.
So this means I will have to either-
a. get a job at Target so as to save the curtains from being binned, (Hey, Beccajo, take these to the dumpster. Ok Doug, no problem!)
or
b. wait by the dumpsters on Dec. 26th.
Either way, it'd be worth it.
