Pocketbook full of Posies
By beccajoIt's May Day, where kids all over the world leave flowers on unsuspecting neighbor's doorsteps. I have a nice deck, but it's 6 feet off the ground and I don't expect a kid to heave flowers up there...so I made one for myself and here's how I did it.
Step 1. Get a purse. This one's vinyl. Cost me $2.99 at Goodwill. Vinyl, pleather, plastic, and rattan work well for this. Cloth, leather, and fancy sequins, not so much. Look for ones that can stand on their own, with a flat bottom and cute little handles that stand up on the side.

Step 2. See that nice lining? Cut it out. Toss it. Or recycle it if you can use the fabric and zippers for something.

Step 3. Cut little holes in the bottom, and enlarge them with your scissors. Place a few packing peanuts or a wadded-up plastic bag in the bottom to all the soil from draining out.

Step 4. Fill 'er up with dirt and then a potted plant or transplant. That's it! Be sure to water frequently, because the soil dries out fast when it's shallow like this.

My kitty approves! And look how nice it looks on my deck!
