My nick...
By balubaluOk everyone - I've noticed that there are some difficulties with my login. So to just make sure what my nick is, where it comes from and how that affected my login here at curbly, read below.
Many of you probably know the guy above as Captain Balu or without hat and jacket as Balu from Disneys Jungle Book. Perhaps it's written different in your language - Baloo in English, Balou in French I guess, but the German version is Balu.
Being a big fan of the Jungle Book, I think Balu's Motto is really great: "Look for the bare necessities..."
Some long time ago while dancing my a** (what would be an apropriate word here? ;) off in a disco a good friend came over and said: "You know what? While dancing you look just like that bear from the Jungle Book." And from then on people called me Balu. And I really like that, so everytime I introduce myself in a not-so-formal-manner I say: "Hello I'm Thomas, but people usually call me Balu."
After all it just went for itself. At work I have a "Balu" on the naming tag besides my real name. People who want to be polite call me "Mr. Balu" (which I find really funny :) and when I take a call and answer with my real name people go "Huh? Can I speak to Balu please?"
So this is where my nick comes from. And if you look closely you will probably find it in my Curbly login - two times to be exact. And guess what - the reason for doubling it is the minimum six chars a curbly login needs to have.
Ok, that's it - long story and the moral is: just call me Balu or Balubalu, but Babalu is wrong ;-)
PS: I even tried to have it added to my id card as a pseudonym, but the officials said I have to use it in public. Yeah WTF am I using it in? I love officialism.
