Hey, that is really cool. At first I thought the bottom book was really fake and the actual shelf. Is it really a piece of thin plastic?

No, it's in fact a "fake" book (a real one, but modified to allow it being screwed to the wall). instructables has infos how to build this.

As most of you already know it's hard to describe...
