Part two of a 3 part series: Living in squalor

I really hadn't realized how hard this would be to write about. When I left off last time, I was talking about compulsive hoarding in the house of the people I was helping move. I spent more time this week helping them, and it really is appalling how they kept their house.

Living in squalor is not just your average run-of-the-mill dirty house. It is way beyond that. Picture trash everywhere, floors that have not been cleaned or vacuumed in years, animals allowed to use the floor as a toilet and not cleaned up. That's squalor.

If you have a strong stomach, check this site out. It's really eye opening. People that live in squalor are most likely mentally ill. We can go in and clean their houses, but they are going to have to be the ones who get help to keep it clean, otherwise it's just a matter of cleaning for someone over and over and over.
