Tell me about your fave magazines!

By badbadivy

My subscriptions are all ending at about the same time and it's time for me to decide what magazines I'd like to read instead. I have a friend who made herself a beautiful garden in her yard and when I asked her where she got her ideas, she said from gardening mags. I asked which ones and she just shrugged and told me "lots of them". Gee, thanks.

So, unless it's a state secret with you as well, I'd like to know what magazines you are reading.  Specifically, home improvement, DIY, and gardening. Although if you have any other must-read magazines you want to suggest, I'm open. Thanks!

I second MANY of the suggestions that have been made BUT would love to add one more which I always look forward to receiving. BUST magazine...its the greatest :) lots of cool, hip girly advice and it always has some fun DIY project. And one of the nice bonus features is that most of the ads are for people who are trying to make a small DIY business and have beautiful, unique, funky, creative ideas for home items.

I wanted to put in another vote for Craft. If you enjoy crafty projects, it has really interesting projects with great instructions for many different kinds of crafts.

I subscribe to Domino and Real Simple.  I love them!  They have a little bit of everthing...Entertaining, recipes, design, fashion, gardening, etc.  Every once in a while I will pick up the latest Martha Stewart, but found that most of her issues have a ton of ads.  I also pick up Dwell occasionally.

Domino is usually pretty good (though their last issue was blah), Lucky, Nylon (but oh what I would give for a more Grown Up version of Nylon--ventures way into teen and early 20's territory far too much), Purple Fashion, Dwell...and the occassional US Weekly!

Budget Living is super fun.  Real Simple is pretty (but a total scam since it pushes TONS of expensive products - SO many ads)  But I still have a subscription.  lol  I dig Marie Claire for my girlie reads, too.  It's a bit more focused on a total woman rather than just the latest trends, biggest ads and craziest quizzes.

My only 2 magazines at the moment are: American Bungalow and MAKE: Technology on Your Time.  And my wife gets CRAFT.  Though when we swing by the local library, I tend to at least flip through Family Handyman, Fine Woodworking and This Old House.

Blue Print, Domino and Lucky (to keep me feeling like a girl). Body and Soul and Real Simple to ground me. I do have a Martha weekness as well.  Budget Traveler cause me likes to travel! Dwell, ID, Metropolitian Home, Wallpaper, Atomic Home just to name a few. But what I really wanted to point out was to first check out Ebay for super cheap subscriptions! Most of them are direct from the publisher and only a fraction of the cost! Also- I have really gotten into used books at Amazon. You can pick up some great DIY books for pennies!
