Flea Markets! Now with 100% less flea!
By badbadivy
I've always had a bad attitude toward flea markets in the Nashville area. The flea markets around here have pretty much nothing but Nascar junk, bad ninja costumes, and guns, guns, knives and some more guns, in case you missed them the first time.
When I went to South Carolina to visit my friend Heather, she took me to a flea market and I was amazed. There was still the requisite Nascar and bad ninja stuff, but there was also all kinds of neat old furniture, rugs, and home decor. "This is what I a flea market ought to be," I thought.
I was thinking perhaps I hadn't given flea markets a fair shake (bad pun totally intended) so I went looking for a flea market finder online. This was the only thing I came up with, and it sucks.
So, my question to you is, do you go to flea markets in your local area? What are they like? Are they like Nashville's crappy flea markets or South Carolina's totally decent flea market?
Bonus: If you live in the Nashville area, and know of a *good* flea market, telling me where to find it will win you lunch on me at the Mothership, home of the scary "naked men party" bathroom.

I'm originally from Jackson, Mississippi, and our flea market is pretty cool. Lots of comic book dealers, furniture, Depression glassware. A lot of it is really over-priced though.
I just went to the Mobile, AL flea market about a month ago, and it was fantastic. Lots of food vendors, animals for sale, records, comics, books, etc. It was really great.
