How does your garden grow?

By badbadivy

So, what are you planting in your gardens this spring? It's nearly planting time here in Tennessee, and I'm getting excited. The soil in my yard is very poor, and I have been unable to keep a garden alive, so this year I am going to be container gardening!

I'm going to grow some herbs- most likely cilantro, basil, and mint. I'm not really sure what else- does anyone have any suggestions? I'm also going to grow tomatoes, since my youngest son absolutely loves them and possibly garlic.

I'd love to hear what everyone else is going to be putting in their gardens this year.

I'm planting basil and chives, may try garlic too. Otherwise, flowers and more flowers!

Nothing unfortunately. I'd love to grow some cilantro. I think i'll plant a billion bulbs this fall, to make up for my lack of planting this spring.

Hot Peppers, w00t :-)

At least if that's what we call "Chili" or "Peperoni" here in Germany - there are so many different names for them all over the world.

You don't know what ss hot until you've tasted Habanero (and beware - those REALLY hurt!).

We just got a foot of snow here in Vermont, but I'll think positively. Going with:

  • tomatoes (grape and large kinds)
  • hot peppers (multiple kinds -- had a great crop last year)
  • cucumbers
  • butternut and acorn squash
  • zucchini
I don't have a ton of room, but this should be good for us. We should be buying a house by the end of the year so next year will be much bigger & better!

Cilantro is fickle here.  Mint is easy, a definite and basil if I can.  Marigolds to keep away the nasties.  Otherwise, it's all easy greenery.
