goodbye, Delaware
By atrophieso my boyfriend and i are finally getting out of this dreadful state. we're packing up all of our things, but i have a new green friend that cannot be packed along with my other belongings.
i got this "pot" at a local garden shop. it's carved volcanic rock, from what i can tell. it's even got three little legs carved out of the bottom. i thought it would be perfect to grow my moss in (and hopefully on!) because it's porous. so tonight, i transplanted the moss i'd been keeping into it, and it looks lovely. it's got a little hill in the middle.
one obstacle i encountered was the roughness of the carved-out legs. this little pot was meant for outdoor use, and i realized quickly that the legs would scratch up just about any indoor surface, like wood. i came up with the idea of using my platinum cure mould-making silicone to solve this problem:
i mixed up just a tiny bit of this silicone and tinted it grey, then proceeded to apply a thick layer of it over and around each leg of the pot. i used a little wooden mixing stick. it turned out great! the legs have little rubber socks now...they are safe for all surfaces, and the pot will easily grip whatever surface it's placed on.
i collected another variety of moss that has larger buds, but at this point, i don't have a place to plant it... :(
