ugly bathroom cabinet doors

By atrophie

i hated the ugly cabinet doors (brass hardware, dated style, in-the-way) in my apartment's bathroom...so i removed them!  however, now i'm left with some marks on the veneer/laminate, and too much view of my beauty products.

NOW

i'm actually not using those rectangular baskets anymore...as you can see, they are too small for the space they need to fill.

i'm thinking either using velcro and sewing a valance-like 'curtain' to stick above the holes, or trying to make some sort of removable border (contact paper?  fabric? stencil?) around the holes to cover the marks from the cabinet door hinges.  i can't paint over them because this is a rental, and i'll have to put the doors back on when i move out.

my colour scheme for the bathroom is off-white (obviously), dark brown, and sea green, though you can't tell from the photos because i just began decorating.

tray i painted

that's a tray i painted that shows the green.

what do you guys think?

Ikea might sell you some white doors you could rig up with conventional hinges.

Hey, I like the green color you chose, very bathroom-y, and in a good way. :-) I'd put the doors back on, and take the knobs off and cover it in contact paper, like the $60 kitchen that was posted about on this site: http://www.curbly.com/lilybee/posts/1025-COMPLETELY-CHANGE-A-KITCHEN-FOR-6- It will give you lots of color options, hide your stuff w/o having to buy all new cute storage stuff and yet still be low cost for the rental situation. If you wanted to go all out, get new knobs that you do like, and you can take them with you when you move for the next DIY project! Post the final after pix!
