And now...back to our regular programming

By amorcitos

Geez, it has been a looong time since my last post here. Why do things like work have to get in the way of progress on a reno project?

In the last 9 months my job has taken me to Latin America (4x), Africa (2x) and Asia  (once). While I love seeing the world, it is good to be home. But it's been hard to be of any real help to my hubby, whose job it is to head up our kitchen reno.

Still, he's been able to get us from here to here:

Our temporary kitchen (for now); it's really our laundry room We're pretty happy with the results in our temporary kitchen (it's in our laundry rm), especially since it gave my hubby some decent Ikea installataion experience before we do the *real* kitchen.

Still to do in the real one: electrical, insulation, drywall, heated flooring...and of course, cabinets & countertops. My naïve self would have said last year that this would be done in 3-4 months, but I'm a little wiser now. I'm thinking that 3-4 months from now it stands a good chance of being completed.

I must say, Ikea-Frisco handled our Hallarum make-good with great grace and even better customer service. Joann and her after-sales crew are champs in our book.

*Hallarum was a beautiful eucalyptus-veneered cabinet design suddenly discontinued by Ikea in late 2006--just when we were about to buy the other half of our cabinets. Booooo, Ikea!
