Reno on a '50s rancher: How long is too long?
By amorcitosMy grandmother could've told me that remodels always take at least twice (maybe four times) as long as one plans, and I still wouldn't have believed it.
Heh. Our timeline was, oh, sometime in October for completing our kitchen renovation. It's nearly Christmas, and we haven't even begun. <kermit the frog>Ho hum. In his defense (not naming names), we ended up with lots of dependencies, and that actually was a good thing (till tonight...read Ikea note below). The only thing driving our timeline was throwing (we hoped) a holiday party. And frankly, that's just not good enough when you're spending oodles of dollars. So here we are, and here's how it looks now: -Ikea cabinets (not sure which ones now--the ones we chose are being discontinued while we're mid-project...Grrrr!) -Ann Sacks tile (backsplash) -Radiant floor heating -Various stainless steel appliances, with a Viking gas cooktop -Caesarstone countertops (www.caesarstone.us) -Some generic ceramic floor tile -Some sink -Some faucet (which I love) -Oh...and a range hood with major suck Great bones, this place has. My hubby stripped and finished the wood underneath to dance-floor quality (hello, salsaaaahh). His folks painted the walls after peeling what seemed like miles of wallpaper...blech! Conveniently, I'd just had knee surgery and had a great view from the couch. You know, I just added the Ikea note (re: the discontinued cabs), and it wears me out to think about it. Hope we have conversations re: our homes. Looking forward to being part of the Curbly family! n.b. Pls excuse any bad HTML...dem fingers is really rusty at it these days.</kermit>
