Bouncy Man dinner...Coming right up

By amorcitos

laundry room-paintedWhat do Bounce sheets and Hungry Man dinners have in common? Well, at our place, they'll be sharing a home in just a few days.

Which means the laundry room's almost done. For us, this is leaps forward following IKEA-induced stagnation (of the kichen kind).

By this time next week, we'll be committed. And the Hubs will be snowboarding with our spring-breakin' nephew. And then I'll be out of the country. This intermittent availability, between the two of us, is beginning to get on my nerves.

But I digress. (This is Curbly, not my shrink's couch.)

As laundry rooms go, this one's starting to look rather dashing, no? It's amazing what exactly one can of paint (with a bunch of texture dumped in) can do. Point is, once the washer/dryer are downstairs and cabinets in place (with a quasi-countertop and sink and microwave and toaster oven) we've got ourselves a mini-kitchen.

And then the real work begins on The Kitchen. I can't wait.

(To all you veterans from a reno-weenie: Does the excitement always come with the jitters?)

Hmm.  Jitters here come with the unknown monsters that lie within the walls and mix up major cab orders.  That come in the form of low electrical bids and water hammer (its not a tool, it's not a dance, much to my dismay and surprize).   Lots of luck to you, I'm sure it will be beautiful.  Please keep updated with pictures.  Ooh, and when you're through with the laundry room, heh, give me some inspiration to attack mine.  It's a dungeon!

nah, just a temporary setup till the real Kitchen is done.

But the laundry rm setup, once countertops are in and the cabinets are all hung, could also serve as a kitchenette for guests who stay downstairs (for example, if all our family wants to come out to the mountains for a holiday). This is a fairly big joint (3500+ sf), so we want to give visitors privacy and freedom to do their own thing in the event we have a full house.

Wait, do I understand correctly that you're going to have a joint laundry-room/kitchen? Is this a permanent thing or just temporary until you get the Kitchen done?
