Crochet Candy Corn

By aliciak

These little candy corn dudes have been flying off my Etsy shelves and their cuteness is sometimes overwhelming! But unlike the real thing, they are soft, always smiling, and stay fresh year after year! Won't you make one? You will need: a G hook white, yellow, and orange yarn 2 beads for eyes black embroidery thread some knowledge of crochet! With G hook and white yarn, ch 2. 6 sc into 2nd ch from hook. Join. Ch 1; 2 sc into each sc, all the way around. Join. (12 sc) Sc all the way around for the next 3 rounds. Join orange yarn: sc, 2sc, sc, sc, sc, sc, 2sc, sc, sc, sc, sc, sc. Sc all the way around. 2sc, sc, sc, sc, sc. Repeat this sequence all the way around. Sc all the way around. 2sc, sc, sc, sc, sc. Repeat this sequence all the way around. Sc all the way around. Join yellow yarn: sc the first round. 2sc, sc, sc, sc, sc, sc. Repeat this sequence all the way around. Sc all the way around for the next 2 rounds. Do NOT finish off. Now is the time to weave in all the ends that are inside the candy corn. (Make sure the right side is on the outside, of course!) Also, embroider bead eyes and a small mouth, if you desire. Stuff with polyester fiberfill. With yellow yarn, you will start to close off the bottom: Working into the back (outer) loops, sc all the way around, making a dec halfway through and also at the end. Again, sc all the way around into the back loops, this time making 4 decreases. At this point, the candy corn should be close to closing. To close, sl st into the back loop of one side and the front loop of the other, moving from right to left. You may have to sl st a few times so that you are holding the candy corn, all of it to the left, and you can start crocheting in that direction. (If these are not close to each other yet, do another round of sc with sporadic decreases). Finish off.

Sorry about the format! I cut and pasted from a document, and I guess it doesn't keep the layout as I had it.
