The refrigerator is no longer the only place for your magnetic collage skills to find full expression.
Kling Magnetics makes a magnetic wall primer that you can paint over in with any final color. It's simple: one coat of magnetic primer, a coat of the paint of your choice, and then you can finally expand your magnet collection to any size your walls will hold!

SarraJK has a great point. I think it depends almost entirely on the brand of paint you use. If the batch of paint you've got doesn't work very well, I'd recommend trying another one.
I've read reviews that recommend Krylon Magnetic spray paint, which is stocked at some Ace Hardware stores and Michael's art stores. Just like Kling Magnetics paint, it's a primer, so you put on a couple coats before the finished color.
And mhDesign's idea of magnetic inkjet print paper is plain genius, and I'm surprised the magnetic paint people haven't already brought that to market.

This is a great idea, but how well does this really work? I bought some magnetic chalkboard paint and after three coats, it still doesn't hold magnets very well.
I'm considering getting some of this and putting a coat on, then adding another coat of the chalkboard paint, but I don't want to go through the hassle if it's not going to be much of an improvement.
