That looks great! Quite the conversation piece too. Great gift; looks like you need a lot of patience to create something like that.

No laquer on the finish, though that was a thought. It would be the only way to keep any kind of lustre, since copper will oxidize if left alone. Another idea for a copper finish is to rust it with a coat of flux. That'll get you a bright green color.

I just picked up a stick of 1-inch tube and was thinking about a floor lamp built like a tree, with a copper root structure, and branches that end in their own shaded bulbs. I just have to get the copper and fittings is all.

Very cool! It'll look great oxidized as well, but I don't think you have to worry about that for awhile ;)
