It Just Takes One Great Piece

By VintageSwank

The biggest dilemma anyone encounters when confronted with designing a room is where to start. Do I pick the wall colors first? Do I pick the drapes? Do I pick the furniture? Do I pick the art?

Well it’s always a good idea to start with a focal piece that is your pride and joy and go from there. This piece could be a piece of art, a great chair or even some amazing fabric.

Danish Modern teak credenza

This 1960s Danish Modern teak credenza became the focal point of our living room the second we found it. It offers up a great combination of modern style and amazing craftsmanship. The top portion allowed for a great display space for our varied collection of Art Deco and modern items as well as a place to show off some of our rare design books.

Find that one piece of inspiration and the space will design itself.

Agreed! A good focal piece can create the mood and inspiration for the rest to come together easily. Love the teak credenza.

I like the advice!  And one great piece is also easier on the wallet than two.
