a recent work I am hoping to have in the shop soon. I had a shadow box and an old wind up travel clock. Some how they just belonged together.

A friend of mine did these drawings - using Japanese calligraphy paint brushes. using that as inspiration, i took a sheet of MDF, my trusty Dremel router and a pint of black paint to create the above... found the kanji symbols online (cant remember what they mean but they were power words of one form or another) drew them on the MDF and went to town.
for the paint treatment, i tried to do a crackled finish using white glue & a blow dryer that didn't work quite right but i left it there anyway . then went in with gold paint for the kanji symbols - the picture is self is surface mounted under a sheet of plexi

These are FLOR carpet tiles that I spray painted with the images shown - got them in the plain grey and got a bit crazed with masking tape & black spray paint. The images have afaded a bit over time (especially in the higher traffic areas) but when i move I will scrub them clean & redo them with different images...

the fireplace works but is too much of a pain in the ass to keep clean - so i cut a 4" x 4" into various lengths and drilled holes in the top and painted them black . I put tea lights in teh holes & light it for dramatic effect - so i get the fire look without the mess of ashes...

The pillows are 2 large pashminas bought on the streets of NYC for about $5 each - couldn't find the right color in teh fabric stores so.... inserts are 2 regular bed pillows per green pillow - again bought on the streets of NYC - the black squares are leather from a piece i had bought at Mood Fabrics a while back but could never figure out what to do with...

saw this in a mag somewhere along the way a while back... simply stripped a $4 lampshade from Ikea (the bases also came from there) and used basic metal wire window screening to make barrel shades. the metal creased nicely to made the bottom edge nice & clean & used the wire itself for the seam in the back.
originally intended to keep it totally straight & smooth but an accidental denting 'inspired' me to crumple the whole thing to make it a little funkier looking.
