What to do with Knotty Pine!

By TheHomeWorksCo

My house has some great cabinets--but they're made of knotty pine. Very old knotty pine. I was wondering if anyone had some photos to show me of things they've done with thier knotty pine to make it more appealing. Or something they did to the room to make thier knotty pine look better!

I've heard contrasting opinions--stain it darker, whitewash it, paint it--I'd like to hear what you guys think!

What sorts of styles do you like? What are the sizes of the rooms containing the wood? If you like dramatic differences, then yes, paint it black or a deep rich color. I like red. Dark colors can make a larger room feel cozier, depending on the color. If you like light and airy spaces, go for lighter stains or colors (also good for making small spaces feel less closed in).

Personally, I love knotty pine. What's the point of having it if you don't show it off. Sand it down and seal it. If you have any pics, that would really be great. To be sure, we'd all like to see it.

I agree with tmgeorgo. Depending on what style you're going for. For myself I think I would "Paint it Black". stain it really and maybe do some pewter knobs.

Post a photo of your cabinets or the room with them so we can get a better look.
