Mad for midcentury modern. Afficianado of good design, but appreciative of good kitsch now and then. Proud owner of a 3 bedroom rambler, circa 1954. (Yes the half bath has pink and black tiles!) The original owner put in a family room addition complete with swanky semi-circular cocktail bar -- how ironic that we're not big drinkers! We are determined to add some 21st century conveniences without sacrificing the fifties aesthetic that prompted us to buy the house in the first place. Currently knee deep in furniture refinishing projects. I've finally stripped the latex blue paint from a Heywood Wakefield Mr and Mrs Kohinoor dresser. It sits, in its naked beauty, in our garage awaiting a fresh coat of wheat stain. Next to the dresser stands a steel tanker desk recently inherited from my dad. That, too will be stripped of its enamel dressing to reveal the gorgeous metal beneath.

Nice to hear big corporations still have a sense of humor, and are willing to support such an idea. Although I think I might tire of the Swedish meatballs. »MORE

The folded stars were in a publication from back in 1989. They are a challenge, so it's sort of easy to see how the instructions could get a little messed up, which is exactly why I offered to talk anyone who attempted to make them through the process. I didn't trust my own how-to ;)
