My little art project - paint question

This is a pretty specific/basic question, but I thought someone out there might be able to help me out. I've got this cool antique-ish drawer I bought at a second hand store a few days ago. My plan is to paint it some sort of bright color and then display odd little knick-knacks in it (right now I'm thinking vintage gameboard pieces). My question, as I have zero experience in this area, is: What kind of paint should I be using? And... does the wood need any sort of pre-treatment before I paint it?Any suggestions? Thanks? »MORE
