Couch Arm Cup Holders
By Runeshai
Useful, re-imaginative and darkly hilarious blog Good Rubbish came up with this idea as a birthday present for someone in their life: cup-holders mounted to the couch arms where their beloved one apparently loved to keep their coffee mugs while reading the paper. Some quick and clever DIYing, some scrap wood and a couple of mini-plates (some ash trays might look cool) and they came up with this:

Record Lamp

Yet another lighting link from me... I've been wondering lately what to do with all the CDs and DVDs I've collected that haven't burned correctly and whatnot. Usually I use them for coasters, but I don't need more than 2-3, and I've got well over 30 discs.
Et voila! I found this today (all hail Instructables), and I may just try it out at some point. If only for a cool-colored experiment.

Support the Students!
By RuneshaiI found these first two within about 20 minutes of each other and it sparked a thought... *Curbly post!* I'm a student and I know we're always lookin' for some way to lighten the months' expenses, so these spots definitely caught my eye. Also, it's cool to reward people for their passion and work. People need encouragement just as much as [constructive] criticism. So anyway...check 'em out, and maybe you'll be smitten with something in the co » READ MORE
Matchbook Notepads
By Runeshai
I found this on Design*Sponge (via Simply Fun Stuff) and, being a fan of DIY notebooks and recycling and the like, and having perused Instructables and made a few of my own, instantly liked the idea. I've got a bunch of fresh printer paper, but I'd love to do this with scratch paper... if only for a sort of cute artsy gift for friends or family.
Lamp Inspiration
By Runeshai
As a sort of follow-up to my earlier lamp post, this one looks more practical in terms of versatility of use, but there's no tutorial. Never fear, however, because it's basically three legs, one hunged arm and a lamp, pretty simple. I'd love to try this out someday, when I've got the room for it (heh, no, I'm not kidding). If/When I do, I'll let you know! Post a comment if you've tried this or something like it. Cool stuff.

Zipper Lamp
By RuneshaiMaybe not the most economical project, since you'd have to buy the zippers, but may be more so if you have a bunch of old zippers ready to be crafted into something else. Plus it looks kinda cool.

After looking at the instructions a little bit, it looks more complicated than I'd thought, but still a cool project, and I'm sure there are ways to simplify it and change it to your liking or capabilities. I remember making a lamp with a wooden » READ MORE

Steampunk Pocket Knife
By Runeshai
This is basically a DIY swiss army knife tutorial I found the other day, perusing Instructables. It's pretty cool, uses pretty standard tools, but I iimagine once you've got one of them down, you'd be able to pull off some more decently, and get creative with the tools you included. That could be a cool part - see what crazy tools you could add tp each one you made.
