To many different metal finishes in Kitchen?
By RhonnieI have a Kitchen/dining room with apple green walls, white cabinets, and some red accents. I originally wanted to have cast iron/black as the metal on the light above the table, curtain rods, etc but I do not like the look of black hardware on the cupboards. Can I use a brushed stainless steel or other matte silver hardware or is that introducing to many colors/finishes? (Note, I do not have stainless steel appliances - they are white)

Hi Rhonnie,
I agree with ModHomeEcTeacher, picking up a few different samples in different finishes is a good idea. You might find that a black knob, handle or drawer pull in a different style will look good. Alternatively, the brushed finish of stainless or nickel will blend in with your cabinets and not provide a glaring contrast. Any samples you buy can be returned even if they have been opened (just don't lose the screws).
Having the black for your curtain rods and dining table light fixture and having brushed stainless on your kitchen cabinets is definitely not introducing too many different metal finishes.
Would love to see a picture - your color scheme sounds very cool.!
Good Luck!

Having consulted many times on kitchen color schemes, I would say the brushed stainless accessories would look very nice and crisp. Since there is no picture I am just imagining what it looks like. Buy a couple of pieces of cabinet hardware in your choices and see how they look.
