I've tried growing limes, lemons, oranges, apples, bananas, and none of them have taken off.  I have trouble getting the seedling to become sapling.  Anyways, I think the reason for this is due to the fact that fruit growers often use grafting techniques.  They graft branches of top fruit producers to lower trunks of more hardy species or subspecies.  I guess those that grow from fruit seeds don't make for very hardy trees.

All I want is some fruit on demand!

We had a small potted orange plant indoors in the Mid-Atlantic, but I never got it to bear fruit :(

I was able to get a blood orange tree to grow in a pot, but it had to be outside. Unless you have bright sun for long periods, they don't like to be inside.

No luck here.  But please keep me posted.  Would love to have indoor harvest.

I would be interested in this too.  Dear Ms DIY Maven, we in the north may not get enough natural sunshine. Might have to give it daily dose of special artificial light. I heard my area gets as many days of sun as rainy Seattle.  Yuck! :-(
