Restless nights-searching for a better way to sleep
By David Rowtree
Lying in bed last night I began to think about…everything. Ironically the only time I seem to be able to arrange thoughts in my head is when I should be dispersing them, throwing them into high wind over a barren sandy desert of sleep. It is such an unfortunate conundrum for someone who loves sleep, could sleep all through the day without a care in the world but as soon as head hits pillow it’s…think, think, think. I am overcome with an urge to call long lost friends I haven’t spoken to in years, put the washing or... »MORE

The Solar-Powered Plant.
By Chrisjob
From Inhabitat: "At first glance this energy producing “plant” may look pretty commonplace, but looks can be deceiving. AIST, Mitsubishi and Tokki has enveloped each solar leaf in an ultra thin film to repel oxygen and water which will make it more durable and friendlier to the harsh outdoor environment. If this prototype performs up to par, they are looking at applying this technology from walls and windows to clothes and toys." And, if you're looking for a little more mature plant, here's a solar tree with photovoltaic leaves. »MORE

A Rookie Mistake
By Deborah
I originally posted this on my blog House&Hound but I thought the info. might be useful for some of you Curbly dog owners! Daniel and I went out to dinner on Friday night to celebrate our last weekend together in Minneapolis. There's a pretty good Italian restaurant on Lake Street called Amore Victoria, and we were lucky enough to score a beautiful table outside, on a more than beautiful evening. Five minutes into our meal a random puppy dog runs up to our table and starts licking up the parmesan cheese crumbs. Turns out the poor little guy is lost,... »MORE
DIY: Not Knotty Pine Anymore
By ModHomeEcTeacher
Here's a sneak peak of the Knotty Pine re-do. Cleanup and reorganization is so tedious until you get immersed in feeling all smug and self-righteous with your tidiness and order. There was much to be learned from this DIY undertaking. Complete planning instead of impulsive diving in was the best move I made. Perseverence using new equipment (the spray painter) was well worth it in time saved. Not quite perfectionism, but pretty darn close to it, helped me feel really proud of the job I did and that unbeatable feeling of accomplishment. If I were to do it again, I would fill all the holes in... »MORE

How To Make a 'Sham-delier' With PDF Template

I made this 'Sham-delier' to give my balcony a little indoor/outdoor ooh la la. Anyway, if you want to make your own here's what you'll need: Two Flexible plastic chopping boards, mine came from the Dollar Store but Ikea does them too. Two flameless tea lights, again, Dollar Store finds, but you could try here Some decorative scrapbooking chain... yup, it's from the Dollar Store...
