I was just thinking about this last night. I was so exhausted that I fell asleep on the couch with the lights and tv on and the cats running around. But when I moved to the bed in the quiet, dark bedroom I couldn't go back to sleep.
For myself, I think most of my sleepless nights are due to stress. When I do lie awake I am usually contemplating things that have happened or will happen at work. When I'm exercizing regularly, I sleep much better.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one that has trouble sleeping at night, yet can pass out in a matter of minutes in my recliner in the Gentlemen's Parlor anytime. Well, or so I thought. Last Saturday night our grandson came for his first overnight visit. His crib is set up in the GP. Without a monitor to hear him I decided to sleep in my recliner figuring I'd have no problem falling asleep. Wrong. Guess I can only sleep in it when it's daylight or I'm recovering from a hospital stay. Which is why I have my own recliner. Not to mention at those times I'm heavily drugged as well.
I wish when not being able to fall asleep I had the urge to get up and get things done around the house. Instead I lay there thinking of the weirdest things. So weird that at times I've wondered if I really was asleep having strange dreams about not being able to fall asleep and thinking of weird things while trying to doing so. Hmmmm........?
