My cat pulls out her fur when she grooms too. For her mental as well as ours, we get her groomed. The groomer--who says she's very well behaved through the process--does a 'long shave'. It's not cheap--like 60 bucks a cut--but it does the trick.

my cat gets angry with me when i try to take her fur. she is long-haired and often pulls off clumps of fur when she's grooming herself. if i see her with a hairball in her mouth and try to take it, she'll attack me.
