Wow.  Beautiful, but pricy... doesn't even include the wiring or the glasses.  Yikes!

Hey Stephee, I saw an episode of the BBC's Changing Rooms once where they made a chandelier for a Middle Ages themed dining room. They took a piece of plywood and cut it into a large ring. Then, using a hole saw, they drilled holes in the ring--like every six inches or so. They painted the ring black and added black chains to it so they could suspend it from the ceiling. Into the holes they drilled, they slipped glass votive candle holders and then put votives in them. I was thinking the same sort of thing could be done to fashion a wine glass chandelier. So the same ring into which you'd drill holes. From the holes you'd have to use a jigsaw to make channels. Then paint the ring whatever color, add chain or maybe high tension wire to give it a more contemporary look. Then, slip your stems into the holes via the channels. You could add a bulb from a light kit--or not. Just having them hanging up there might look cool. So--why don't you try making one and then let me know if this idea works! ;)
