You go! I have a much smaller assortment of frames hung in a similar way. It must have taken a lot of patience to get them arranged and in place.
I used 3M strips too and those save a lot of headache. Plus it's great if you rent or if you have old walls that crumble at the site of nails.

Like you said, "it winds up looking obvious and easy" but in my opinion it's so much more than that-- what an ingenious use of frames.
