This is also a great time of year to snip off some branches from a tree that is just about to bloom. Perhaps a dogwood. Place them in a vase of water and they will continue to bloom indoors!

Nice idea! Maybe if the birch branches were cut of a little, you could fit it in more easily, but that's just me :)

Really well done.  I love the changes you made to that space.  Can't wait to see what else you're up to.

thanks a lot :) actually, what's really sad is that most of the grout is falling out or can just be picked out with a razorblade.  damn apartment budgets...can't hire a decent handyman to do a good job.

i love Michael's!!

Isn't Michael's underrated? I'm always roaming their aisles. I've seen people tape off designs--swirls, dots, strips--on clear glass vases and then use the etching cream that way. Very effective! I had the lovely job of re-grouting one of our bathrooms. What works great, if you can get your hands on one, is a Dremel with a carbide bit. You just have to have a delicate hand; don't push too hard with the bit or you'll chip your tile. But I tell ya, these are a soooo much better than one of those little grout remover hand tools (which, by the way, can chip your tile too). And if you've never regrouted before, keep in mind you don't have to remove ALL of the grout, just get down to the good/stable stuff. Great job though! As they say...you go girl!
