Hey La Femme, great laundry strategies! I used to wear a lot of wool sweaters (before I became allergic to them!) and spent too much cash on dry cleaning until I realized I could wash them in cold water/gentle cycle, laying them flat to dry. Of course, until they dried, they made the apartment smell like wet wool...aka wet puppy smell! ;)

I just posted something similar in response to this post here... I would have left it all in a comment, but there was too much to say! Love all these ideas, though!

Sorry to hear about the holes, Jasimar. I've only just started using them, so I'll keep this in mind. The balls do, however get my clothes dryer quicker, no question about it. My mom always suggested throwing into the dryer an old tennis shoe--a clean one of course--to fluff up and dry clothes faster. I think she'd recommend a Keds. ;)

Very cool tips, DIYMav. I too have balls. But I think they're beating up my machine. And I'm certain they're responsible for the two starter holes in my towels. (They're not old or cheap enough to be hole-y).

Hey Rock Star! Thanks a bunch, but you can keep the fifty cents...I use the balls now!! ;)
The nice thing about those front load washers is that because they don't have an agitator, they too are very gentle on clothing.

maven, I too amforced to be frugle. But I will say splitting dryer sheets is too much for me even! hahaha. I use organic laundry detergent. I got it off drugstore.com, I find it keeps my clothes lasting way longer and the lavender scent is fab! You get a ton of washings for a bottle too! I ordered it very cheap on that site so I really saved. I also find a dryer rack to save and helps save my clothes(as you will see when and if i post mym walk in closet). I have a tooon of clothes so I try to treat them well. Ill send you the 50 cents for a full dryer sheet if you are put out hahaha!
