eta: it's currently vinyl siding, though i would prefer to have board-and-batten siding (i think the LC would approve -- it's more "historically accurate" anyway for that style of house, even if the original exterior was stucco).

thanks! the exterior will have to stay the same for now because the house is in an historic neighborhood, which means that everything done to an area that faces a public right-of-way must be approved by the k.c. landmarks commission. and that's a PROCESS, lemmetellya. we had to get approval in order to be able to change the screened-in porch to a master/1st-storey bathroom, and it was definitely a good insight to our city's bureaucracy.
