Smart storage of CD's and LP's?

By Northernstar

Anybody out there with an idea on how to make a smartlooking storage of CD's and LP's(Vinylrecords)? I am aware that it is a dinosauric thing to love your old albums, but I do. The number in question is aprox. 1700 LP's and 1000 CD's.

We have a similar number of CDs but a lot less LPs...for CDs I had to hunt high and low but finally found a 800 CD shelf at Best Buy for about $80. It's serving its purpose although our ultimate goal, once we buy a house, is to run a shelf along the top of the ceiling where we can still reach it (about 7ft up), all around the room.

As far as LPs, I have about 200 and once a crappy $20 fiberboard file cabinet gave out, I took out the drawers, flipped it on its side and it holds about 150 of them. The rest are right next to that, in the bottom shelf of some wire-mesh cubes. Those were about $20 at kmart/target and can be linked ad infinitum. I'd recommend those, but only for LPs on the bottom shelves.

Also, with the amount of record stores closing these days, you may have good luck buying out their shelving units.
